I beached my hair very blond and I'm sick of doing my roots. I have light brown hair naturally and want to dye it back...any suggestions? Last time I did this it had a green tint to it and I don't want to do that again. And I also do not want to go to a salon to get it done either...thanks for your help!
Hair color help.?
Ive done this exact thing to my hair over and over. So here....
Buy some natural instincts light brown (neutral) shade semi-permanent dye. If they don't have that, get any other neutral light brown semipermanent color. Dye your hair with it. This will fill in the porosity of your blonde hair, and help the actual haircolor grab onto your hair better. This is called a "fill".
Then, dye your hair with the permanent light brown dye. Stay away from ash tones (which will look green) and warm tones (which could look orange). Should work out fine for you, unless your hair is already excessively damaged. If it doesnt come out dark enough for you, wait a week and dye it medium neutral brown. And don't use any Feria - their dye is metallic dye and can react badly to other hair colors. Good luck : )

its called stripping your hair.
Color corrections should NOT be attempted at home!!!!!!!!!
NO NO NO NO!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE go to salon pro!! :)
Color tints, whether permanent or demi-permanent, cannot lift itself out of the hair. It just adds more layers of color product to try to lift out of the hairshaft. Previously color-treated hair is more tricky to color than hair that hasn't ever received a color or other chemical treatment. Colored hair that has been processed is POROUS fiber and should be handled with a lot of TLC!!
What needs to be done is using a color remover that GENTLY lifts out the artificial pigments(the "dyes") without touching the natural pigments you were born with. Rusk Company (this is professional color product line---can't get it in the supermarket, etc.) makes a great product called ELIMIN8. Have your colorist use this or a bleach lightner with dedicated developer formulated for your hairtype. (I like the Wella lines) Follow this with the shade of choice in a Deposit -only Demi-permanent glaze to achieve the final shade.
It may take more than one process(to strip the previous shades)! Hair color goes from dark to light and back again in several stages. So be patient, you will get there!
Condition in between the steps, and then immediately after your color correction to save the hair from damage and breakage problems. Use a conditioner in the shower every time you shampoo, that detangles and hydrates, and then about 2x weekly condition with a protein pack or mask. Leave on a few minutes and rinse. Or wrap your head in a damp moist towel for up to 20 minutes and sit outside in the summer sunshine! Rinse and feel soft, silky strands and glossy shiny hair. Also keep getting those regular trims to keep ends from breaking!
