Does Head and Shoulders work really good on normal hair?

Hi! My hair is dirty blond and its pretty normal and pretty fine.

I need some new shampoo and conditioner and I was looking at some shampoos and I found head and shoulders. I was wondering if you thought it would be a good shampoo for my type of hair.

My other shampoo choices were pantene, sunsilk and organix.

What do you think?

Thanks =]

Also after you tell me which brand to use which kind ( like for pantene use thick and full) should i use?

Even if I don't have dandruff would head and shoulders work for me?

No, Head %26amp; Shoulders is a brand of anti-dandruff shampoo produced by Procter %26amp; Gamble. Head %26amp; Shoulders Classic Clean Shampoo is the top selling shampoo in the United States by Dollar Sales.

Procter %26amp; Gamble researchers first decided on making a new anti-dandruff shampoo in 1950, when massive public opinion made it clear that the current products on the market were not helping their scalp problems. Nearly a decade of research went into making a new formula, which introduced the product pyrithione zinc into a shampoo for the first time.

Head %26amp; Shoulders was first introduced to the U.S. market in November 1961, as a blue-green shampoo formula. Unlike other shampoos, Head %26amp; Shoulders had relatively few variations until the late 1990s and early 2000s, and there are now in excess of ten different kinds of shampoo for different hair types under the Head %26amp; Shoulders banner. It has since then grown into a billion dollar brand. The people responsible for this were Robert Jongstra (Procter %26amp; Gamble General Manager) and Olga Barr (Saatchi %26amp; Saatchi Global Creative Director).

A study conducted by University Medical Center Sart Tilman (Belgium) comparing the efficacy of the active ingredient in Head %26amp; Shoulders (zinc pyrithione) versus the active ingredient in Nizoral (ketoconazole) found that "Ketoconazole [Nizoral] 2% shampoo was significantly superior to zinc pyrithione [Head %26amp; Shoulders] 1% shampoo in the treatment of subjects with severe dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp". (Skin Pharmacol Appl Skin Physiol. 2002 Nov-Dec;15(6):434-41.)

The brand's "Extra Strength" product had a cameo role in the 2001 film Evolution, where its startling copper orange color was shown. Head and Shoulders' original ocean blue formulation is more widely recognized.

Head %26amp; Shoulders can also claim the TOP FIVE selling individual Shampoo Category SKUs in the United States by Dollar Sales. (AC Nielsen FD+ / 52wks Ending 11/24/2007)

Head %26amp; Shoulders can also claim 10 of the top 30 selling individual Shampoo Category SKUs in the United States by Dollar Sales. (AC Nielsen FD+ / 52wks Ending 11/24/2007)

Head %26amp; Shoulders has enjoyed 26 consecutive weeks of both $ and VOL consumption growth in the United States. (AC Nielsen FD+ / 26wks Ending 11/24/2007)

If you were to put anti-dandruff on your hair, then your hair may start to fall off.

it works well but DO NOT USE IT! head and shoulders has something in it that makes your head become addicted to it. so if you ever want to stop using it you will get dandruff even if you didn't have it before. just don't start using it.. seriously. try herbal essences instead.

none of those are good i have tried them all, the best i have loved is finesse use the one for fine or thin hair or the one that gives volume, when u buy a shampoo you need to use the kind that works with your hair, head and shoulders is good for dandruff it will dry your hair, i love finesse so shiny smells amazing and my hair is so soft, love it

sunsilk is amazing! the green (anti-frizz) gives you silky soft hair with added volume. the conditioner just glides onto hair and rinses off (only the shampoo gets bubbly) and your hair feels instantly softer than before!

try sunsilk instead

I love the Aussie ones. They don't leave a greasy shine on the hair, and it really does what it says on the tin. There are ones to thicken hair etc. And as a major plus, they all smell delicious. H%26amp;S is good but I found it made my hair greasy and limp by the end of the day.

This stuff actually makes your hair an addict of the stuff.

I would try solid bar shampoos developed for dry hair.

In the uk, Lush Cosmetics make them. They last for absolutely ages - 20+ washes - and no packaging. I think the type for dry skalp incorporates "snake oil" - a vegetable blend.

First of all,

those types of shampoos are aimed at what they say on the tag because they are LOADED with chemicals and can eventually resulte in hair loss.

Plus they torture animals in testing. www.stopanimaltests.com

You seem to have pretty normal hair, so a shampoo like White Rain will work fine. If you're looking for more volume, invest in a salon shampoo. They are the worth the money and require less product.

Good Luck! :)

Wow. Some of these people... I have used Head and Shoulders for probably 10 years now. I will not switch shampoos because I know what I am getting. My hair is fine as it's NOT "falling out", and I don't get dandruff if I use another brand. I use it because it keeps my hair soft and clean. I didn't have a dandruff problem when I started using it and I still don't. Try different brands to see what you like best. In the end you're the one that needs to be happy. Good luck!

i'm personally not a fan of the smell of head and shoulders. for some reason herbal essences tends to dry out my hair causing dandruff so i dont recommend it. Pantene has always worked great and so have Aussie and Tresemme on my hair. Dont fall into the hype that you cant have healthy hair without salon shampoos. i'm sure theyre good for your hair but they tend to damage your pocketbook lol

I wouldn't really recommend the brands you mentioned..

On first few applications hair feels great and silky, but this is because they can contain silicon, which coats your hair. Eventually this builds up on the hair surface and your hair feels awful! (its a bit like chlorine build up when you swim alot)

Instead, why not go into a salon that retails, they do cost more but they are worth it and do last alot longer..

maybe Paul Mitchell or Redken? something like that..

of shop bought products, someone mentioned herbal essences.. and lush. either of these are good..

(for dry scalps or dandruff, paul mitchell tea tree shampoo is lovely)

I use Herbal Essences. It comes in a bunch of varieties and scents, and I love it.

1. Pantene- A good thing about pantene is that it is great for dyed hair. It also makes your hair shiny and thicker. A bad thing is that It actually coats your hair with wax, forcing you to use a clarifying shampoo one week per month, or else your hair will become weighed down and break.

2. Sunsilk- I've heard pretty good things about this type of shampoo. Just make sure to get the right type for your hair.

Sorry, I've never heard of Organix...

3. Head and shoulders- I would not recommend that you use this, especially if you don't have dandruff.

4. Herbal Essences- It comes in tons of varieties, it's inexpensive, and it smells SO GOOD. Whichever type you choose of this, it will do its job well and aromatically. However, I have heard that there is a damaging alcohol substance, that may cause your hair damage... I have not experienced this. I've used this brand for about 7 months now, and I am satisfied with it. Did I mention that it smells awesome? =)
